How it works

Three steps. Then you're settling in.

1

Fill in your details

Your visa, where you're from, where you'll be living. Three quick questions — a dependant's checklist is not a student's, so we never mix them.

Honest guides

The Underground, supermarkets, the NHS, British phrases — short, snackable, with a quiz at the end if you fancy a badge.

Explore deals & days out

Free stuff, food, money and days out — each with a one-line verdict. If a deal isn't worth it, we say skip it.

About Basera

Made by people who did this the hard way.

Roughly one in three UK study visas goes to someone from South Asia — students, then the partners, parents and children who follow. Most of us landed with a suitcase, a CAS letter and a WhatsApp group full of half-right advice.

Basera is the companion we wish we'd had: every step in the right order, the how-to for each one, honest about what's worth your money, and built for our community — by state and by language, not one generic “international student”.

basera बसेरा · noun · Hindi / Urdu / Nepali

a dwelling; a place to rest; the nest a bird returns to at the end of the day

Pronounced bah-SEH-rah. You're crossing the world for a degree or a job — we help you build the basera at the other end.

FAQs

Questions people ask before joining

Is it really free?

Yes. Basera earns a small fee when you sign up for some services through our links — a bank, a SIM, a Railcard. You pay the same price as you would anywhere else, usually less. That fee is how we keep the app free for everyone.

Do I need an account?

Yes — a free one. Answer three quick questions, then sign up with your name and email. We send a 6-digit code to your email, no password to remember. Your checklist, stamps and referral link are saved and follow you between your phone and laptop.

I'm a dependant, not a student. Is it for me?

Yes — and your checklist is different on purpose: right-to-work share code, full-time work rights, finding work and childcare content instead of enrolment and student discounts.

Which cities and universities do you cover?

All of the UK. Every major city and university is built in; the guides are UK-wide with local detail where it matters (London transport, for example).

Is it an app I download?

Basera works in your browser and installs to your home screen like an app — on iPhone, Android and laptop. Open app.joinbasera.com and tap “Add to Home Screen”.

Coming to your basera?

Three questions, a free account, and your checklist is ready. Term starts soon — the essentials take a week if you start now.
