Terms of use

Short and fair. Last updated 7 November 2026.

The short version. Basera is a free guide, not legal advice. Be decent, don’t game the referrals, and check gov.uk before you act on anything about your visa.

1. Who we are

Basera is run by Oakley Ridge Ltd (“we”, “us”). By using joinbasera.com or app.joinbasera.com you agree to these terms. If you don’t, please don’t use Basera. Our privacy policy explains how we handle your data.

2. Information, not advice

Basera gives general information to help you settle in the UK. It is not legal, immigration, financial or medical advice, and we aren’t a law firm or an authorised immigration adviser. Rules, prices and offers change. Always check gov.uk and your university before relying on anything here, especially about your visa. We try hard to keep things accurate but can’t promise it is complete or current.

3. Free to use, and how we earn

Basera is free to use. Some links pay us a fee — never you. When you sign up with a provider through one of our links, the provider may pay us. It never costs you more, and it doesn’t change our verdicts. Any agreement you make with a provider is between you and them.

4. Acceptable use

5. Referrals and the leaderboard

6. Our content

The Basera name, logo, stamps, guides and design belong to Oakley Ridge Ltd. You may use them to enjoy Basera and to share your own “letter home” cards. Please don’t copy the content or pass it off as your own.

7. Our responsibility

We provide Basera “as is”. Nothing in these terms limits liability that can’t be limited by law, such as for death or personal injury caused by negligence or for fraud. Otherwise, so far as the law allows, we aren’t liable for losses from relying on information in Basera, from provider services you reach through our links, or from the service being unavailable. Because Basera is free, our total liability to you is limited to £100.

8. Ending things

You can stop using Basera, or delete your account in the app (Profile, Settings, Delete account), whenever you like. We can suspend or close accounts that break these terms.

9. Changes

We may update these terms. If the change matters, we’ll tell you in the app. Carrying on using Basera after that means you accept the new terms.

10. Law and contact

These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales, and the courts of England and Wales have jurisdiction, though if you live elsewhere in the UK you keep your local consumer rights. Questions: hello@joinbasera.com.
